I have a rule ... if my scanner, my uploading source, God or what-have-ya fuddles my ability to get something online three TIMES in a row ...
I go do something else for a while, til the buggers get bored and go find someone else to torment.
So -- go drink a soda, brew some coffee, and give yerself a break til later. It always seems to work better later.
